Tummy Tuck also called Abdominoplasty
All loose skin and fatty tissue are removed through an incision made across the bikini area extending across the abdomen, usually from hipbone to hipbone. The muscles may also be tightened to give a flatter, firmer abdomen. Typically, if the navel is repositioned, there is a scar around the navel. The Surgeon will educate you of the specific nature of the scars at consultation.
General Anaesthetic is administered and the operation will take approximately 3 hours. It is likely that you will have suction drains in place, these will be removed before your discharge from hospital. Should you have sutures or clips in your wounds, these will be removed approximately 1-2 weeks later at your clinic appointment. You will need to wear a light support garment for 6 weeks.
After 14 days you will be able to start doing light exercises to start toning the muscles and help the skin to heal. Depending on your occupation, you will be able to return to work 2-4 weeks after the operation.
